Presentation of the Lord (“Candlemas Day”)

Malachi 3:1-4     Hebrews 2:14-18     Luke 2:22-40

     Today we celebrate that the Baby Jesus was brought to the Temple by his parents to be presented to God.  So much is going on as the humble family walks into the Temple. As they bring their humble gift of a pair of doves the mysterious figures Simeon and Ana come forward and speak of the Child. How amazing it must have all been for Mary and Joseph!

     As we reflect on the dedication of Jesus, the Light, in the Temple we must reflect on how we were dedicated to our God in our baptism, where we were also given a lighted baptism candle, in order to celebrate that we have all received the Light of Christ.  Now the challenge is to share that light with others. 

     May the Light of Christ burn brightly in our lives!

     Malaquías 3: 1-4 Hebreos 2: 14-18 Lucas 2: 22-40

Hoy celebramos que el Niño Jesús fue llevado al Templo por sus padres para ser presentado a Dios. Están sucediendo muchas cosas mientras la humilde familia entra al Templo. Mientras traen su humilde regalo de un par de palomas, las misteriosas figuras Simeón y Ana se acercan y hablan del Niño. ¡Qué asombroso fue todo para María y José! Al reflexionar sobre la dedicación de Jesús, la Luz, en el Templo debemos reflexionar sobre cómo fuimos dedicados a nuestro Dios en el bautismo, donde también nos dieron una vela bautismal encendida, para celebrar que todos hemos recibido la Luz de Cristo Ahora el desafío es compartir esa luz con los demás. ¡Que la luz de Cristo arda brillantemente en nuestras vidas!
