The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

Exodus 24:3-8     Hebrews 9:11-15     Mark 14:12-16,22-26

We celebrate today the great feast celebrating the tremendous gift that leads us to holiness: the Eucharist.  The celebration of the Eucharist is a fundamental aspect of our Catholic faith and today we reflect on the awesomeness of this gift.  Often we may take it for granted.

     Rooted in the 13^th century vision of a Belgian nun, St. Juliana, the Church added the celebration of Corpus Christi (“The Body of Christ”) to the Church calendar.  During the reforms of the Church during Vatican II this celebration was combined with the Feast of the Precious Blood and celebrated on the Sunday after Trinity Sunday.

    Let us rejoice in the tremendous gift of the Eucharist in which we not only remember what Jesus did at the Last Supper, but truly receive his sacred Body and Blood.  There is no better nourishment for our growth in holiness.

 La Solemnidad del Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo

    Celebramos hoy la gran fiesta que festeja el grandioso regalo que nos lleva a la santidad: la Eucaristía. Esta celebración es un aspecto fundamental de nuestra fe católica y hoy reflexionamos sobre la maravilla de este regalo. A menudo podemos darlo por hecho.
     Enraizada en la visión del siglo XIII de una monja belga, Santa Juliana, la Iglesia añadió la celebración de CORPUS CHRISTI ("El Cuerpo de Cristo") al calendario de la Iglesia. Durante las reformas de la Iglesia durante el Vaticano II, esta celebración se combinó con la Fiesta de la Preciosa Sangre y se celebró el domingo posterior al

 Domingo de la Trinidad. 

     Regocíjense en el grandioso don de la Eucaristía en el cual no solo recordamos lo que Jesús hizo en la Última Cena, sino que verdaderamente recibimos su sagrado Cuerpo y Sangre. No hay mejor alimento para nuestro crecimiento en santidad.
