Fishing for Jesus

Isaiah 6:1-8     1 Corinthians 15:3-8,11     Luke 5:1-11

    Today Jesus speaks with Simon Peter who had completed a long night of fishing without much success.  Jesus tells him to cast the nets out again and, surprise, they have nets full of fish.  Simon Peter is then invited to follow Jesus to become a “fisher of people.”   A powerful encounter with Jesus leads to a life of proclaiming the message of the Gospel.

     All of us have been touched by the Lord Jesus either by a simple encounter or a grand one.  Once we’ve had that encounter we enter into new life and are called to be messengers of the Gospel, sharing good news and gathering others to the Lord.  Today we have an opportunity to reflect on how we are living as “fishers of people” by sharing good news and gathering others to the Lord.  Are your nets prepared?

Pescando por Jesús

Isaías 6: 1-8 1 Corintios 15: 3-8,11 Lucas 5: 1-11

        Hoy Jesús habla con Simón Pedro, quien pasó  una larga noche de pesca sin éxito. Jesús le dice que saque las redes de nuevo y, sorpresa, tienen redes llenas de peces. Entonces, Simón Pedro está invitado a seguir a Jesús para convertirse en un “pescador de personas.” Un encuentro poderoso con Jesús lleva a una vida de proclamación del mensaje del Evangelio.

Todos hemos sido tocados por el Señor Jesús, ya sea por un simple encuentro o uno grandioso. Una vez que hemos tenido ese encuentro, entramos en una nueva vida y estamos llamados a ser mensajeros del Evangelio, compartimos buenas noticias y reunimos a otros para el Señor. Hoy tenemos la oportunidad de reflexionar sobre cómo vivimos como "pescadores de personas" en compartir buenas noticias y reunir a otros para el Señor. ¿Están sus redes preparadas?
