Ephphatha!

Isaiah 35;4-7     James 2:1-5     Mark 7:31-37

         A deaf person with a speech impediment is brought to Jesus.  Jesus, rather dramatically, restores the person’s hearing and speech uttering the prayer/word “Ephphatha” (meaning “Be opened!). 

          Jesus says the same to us.  What needs to be opened?  Perhaps you need to open your mouth in order to speak the truth.  Perhaps you need to open your mouth speaks words of mercy to another person.  Perhaps you need to open your ears in order to hear challenging words for your growth as a human or a Christian.  Perhaps you need to open your ears in order to hear someone who needs your attention.

          So what in your life is closed to the message of Jesus that needs to be opened?

     Una persona sorda con un impedimento del habla es traída a Jesús. Jesús, dramáticamente, restaura la audición y el habla de la persona

 pronunciando la oración / palabra "Ephphatha"  (que quiere decir "¡Abrete!").

    Jesús nos dice lo mismo. ¿Qué necesita ser abierto? Quizás necesites abrir la boca para decir la verdad. Quizás necesites abrir la boca para decir palabras de misericordia a otra persona. Quizás necesites abrir los oídos para escuchar palabras desafiantes para tu crecimiento como humano o como cristiano. Tal vez necesites abrir tus oídos para escuchar a alguien que necesita tu atención.

     Entonces, ¿qué parte de tu vida está cerrada al mensaje de Jesús que necesita ser abierto?
